Moving Checklist

  • Sort through all your content and start the packing process
  • Contact eco box for eco friendly box rentals. Clearly label all boxes. Set all boxes in one side of the home closest to the exit door where movers will access easily.
  • Reserve a moving company
  • If you're moving into a condominium, find out if there are any moving day requirements from the management company such as elevator rental.
  • Complete all necessary home repairs
  • Notify children’s schools, if necessary
  • Contact your insurance company to notify of the move and to make any needed changes to your policy
  • Set up change of address online at Canada Post to forward mail to your new address 
  • Contact all utility companies to disconnect services on move out date and arrange for new services at your new address

  • Notify your banks, credit card companies, insurance companies, subscriptions, employer, drivers license
  • Schedule a professional cleaning company for a post-move clean. Self clean oven and defrost freezer to speed up the cleaning. Ask to have inside of all cupboards, stove, microwave and refrigerator cleaned.
  • Schedule professional carpet cleaning, if necessary
  • Schedule landscape maintenance
  • Pack a moving Day Survival kit to have in hand such as any toiletries and extra clothes.
  • Safely move all important documents, currency and jewelry yourself.
  • Leave all appliance manuals, mailbox key, garage door openers and all other keys clearly labeled on the kitchen counter for the future residence.
  • Change locks of your new home
